What to expect
EASA type Rating Instructor (TRI) and Synthetic Flight Instructor (SFI) courses on A320, A330 & A350
The course is broken down into three elements:
Part 1: Teaching and Learning | 25-hour classroom-based course which allows the trainee to understand adult and learning and develop training skills and techniques. The course incorporates elements of Competency-based training includes a foundation in Threat and Error Management (TEM) for instructors. |
Part 2: Technical Training | 10-hour course focused to develop the trainee instructor’s capability to deliver type-specific training in a variety of contexts. Instructor trainees are exposed to a variety of teaching methods and media to develop confidence through a breadth of experiences. |
Part 3: Flight instruction | Aircraft type specific for Airbus A320 or A330 consists of a minimum of 10 hours of FSTD instruction for each instructor trainee. Pilot competencies, TEM, and CRM are integrated throughout the program. During this phase, trainee instructors plan sessions, brief, train, assess, de-brief, and report across a variety of type rating-orientated sessions. The course concludes with a formal Assessment of Competence for the issue of a certificate. |

Type rating courses are intended for pilots meeting standard license eligibility criteria according to the state of license issue.
