About Patrick
Pat is a Director of Salient and has an extensive background as a pilot, flight instructor, academic and manager, with the broad perspective of having held leadership positions in the military, a major international airline, and a government aviation safety regulator.
Holding postgraduate qualifications in aviation safety and management, Pat is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Southern Queensland, specialising in safety and human factors. He has an international reputation as an aviation safety & training professional and appears regularly as a keynote speaker and invited chair at international conferences in aviation safety and training as well as other high skill, high risk disciplines such as healthcare.
As a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors Pat has held directorships of an international safety consultancy and an international not for profit organisation as well as a Governor General appointment to the Australian Government Veterans Review Board. He is a Liveryman and Master Air Pilot of the Honourable Company of Air Pilots and is the recipient of an international award for his services to aviation. In 2022 he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to aviation safety and the air transport industry.
Pat has been awarded Fellowships of The Royal Aeronautical Society; The Institute of Managers and Leaders and The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. He is currently the inaugural industry Chair of the CASA Aviation Safety Advisory Panel and has recently been appointed as a member of Boeing’s newly formed external safety advisory panel.
From the outset, Pat came with us on the journey developing EBT for ICAO and co-authored the original IATA/ICAO/IFALPA Implementation Guide with Mike.
Pat brings insight, breadth, and depth of experience in training, regulation, human factors, and research.
His journey with Mike goes back over 40 years and he is engaged in all of our activities. His immense capabilities and wise counsel give us great strength.
