Dr Li Tong

Li Tong is our Senior Consultant responsible for China. 

She has been working for the Civil Aviation Management Institute of China for eight years, mainly responsible for training and research in Aviation Safety and international cooperation. Prior to working for CAMIC, she was a doctoral candidate at the Beijing Institute of Technology. She studied Decision-making theory and cooperative game theory. She spent one year at the University of Paris 1 where she studied fuzzy measure. She is good at developing quantitative solutions for customer’s decision-making.

In the field of Civil Aviation Safety, she is interested in integrating quantitative tools with safety decision-making. Recently, she began to study safety information, QAR analysis based on machine learning and pattern recognition. She decoded 20,000 flights from 1000ft to TD and formed an extensive data pool for research. She is responsible for China Eastern Airlines’ QAR measurement platform project. 

She is a leader and key consultant in the SMS implementation project of China Eastern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, and Juneyao Airlines. She also provides consultancy to three airlines and two Air Traffic Management Bureaus (ATMB) on Fatigue Risk Management Implementation. She is a trainer at the Cooperative Development of Operational Safety and Continuing Airworthiness Programme North Asia (COSCAP-NA), where she delivers safety management related training. She is also a guest speaker in COSCAP-SA, delivering SMS to the Steering Committee. 

She is keen on improving SMS and information analysis efficiency in airlines. To guarantee the quality of SMS projects, she has collected all kinds of material related to SMS. These include FAA, CASA, CAA safety plans, safety performance management methods in Aviation and Oil and Gas industry etc. 

She enthusiastically applies information process techniques and aviation safety theory to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of SMS.  She has been working on EBT projects and the integration of TEM, LOSA, and Competency into training methods and analysis.
