About Simon
Simon is actively engaged in the delivery of our training and consultancy services. He started his flying career with the Royal Air Force on Harriers. After a brief period instructing on Hawks, he moved into test flying conducting research into advanced fly-by-wire for VSTOL aircraft, civil avionic work, weapons certification with the USAF, and finally as Principal Tutor for the Empire Test Pilots’ School. After several years working for a simulator manufacturer, Simon joined Virgin Atlantic flying A330/340 and B787 (TRI/E).
Simon has bachelor’s degrees in physics and art history and, following a master’s degree in Human Factors and Safety Assessment, worked part-time for the UK Civil Aviation Authority and Cranfield University as the Director of the Flight Operation Research Centre of Excellence conducting research into automation training.
Simon comes with an immense record in test flying, research and simulation in addition to his airline training roles and flight simulation. Over the years he has contributed significantly to the vision for training which became EBT, and his research into what has now become CBTA for initial type ratings contributes to our courses and consultancy. Very proud to have Simon as a key member of the team.
