Welcome to our new site. You will know us as the EBT Foundation, our not-for-profit company established to conduct research and analyses data to support training. You may know us as EBT Solutions, with the extensive work we have undertaken to help organizations develop and implement Evidence-based Training. The EBT concept was primarily aimed at airline pilots and continues to grow with more than 50 states worldwide now having EBT programs.
We developed our reputation in providing support for Evidence-based Training, and the heart of this is the drive for improved safety and efficiency through effective learning to address underlying competencies. Since the inception of EBT, ICAO has expanded the concept with recent changes to Annex 1 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation – Personnel Licensing, Thirteenth Edition, July 2020, and Doc 9868 PANS – Training, Third Edition 2020. EBT is now part of a wider vision for Competency-based Training and Assessment (CBTA). We have been approached by several organizations for support for CBTA and so it made sense to undertake some rebranding to accommodate a wider scope of activities.
Our team has expanded in addition to our services. This gives us greater potential to provide ongoing support. We have divided what we offer into Training and Consulting Services. Our aim is to maintain and develop our long-term relationships with customer organizations to help them realize the full benefits of Competency-based Training and Assessment. We have seen great results to date and need to continue to take steps to maximize the potential of the concepts. I do want to stress that we are the same people with the same vision and style but with improvements to our organization and approach. We have formed some new partnerships including one with Management and Excellence. Over the last 2 years, we have worked with Dr. Bill Cox to use the SMART ROI® method to quantify cost benefits from Competency-based approaches of EBT and CBTA.
Having learned so much from EBT we are now able to employ our strategies more generally in pilot training. The benefits we are seeing from effective EBT programs can be realized across the domain of pilot training, as well as to other safety-critical roles in aviation.
We took our Black Swan logo, synonymous with all that we do in helping operators and pilots prepare for the unforeseeable. We gave it a 21st-century look by fragmenting the swan but preserving the essence of what we do:
Enable resilience to the unexpected; maximise learning through an individual tailored approach.
The way we deliver our training is the way we want our customers to deliver. Having the experience with us motivates them to create the experience for their pilots.
As Salient means ‘the most important or the most noticeable’, we aim at supporting your airline or training organization thrive when human performance development via training and assessment is concerned.
Our updated identity reflects who we are and what we do as a global brand today. We help organizations make improvements in safety and efficiency through the implementation of innovative pilot training programs.
Welcome to Salient.
